Our story

A hand holding six small gold bottles of oud oil in front of the store's drawers and red gift boxes

Oud is not bought by description; it is smelled, and then it is known.

An Omani house that keeps oud in its rightful place

The house of Oud Alsabei was born of a passion for authentic oud and respect for the Omani traditions of hospitality in which oud takes pride of place. We select rare agarwood at its source, and nothing enters the house until an experienced nose has approved it.

Our oud oil is distilled, then left to age patiently until it gains its depth and amber colour, and is then hand-filled in As Suwaiq into crystal bottles worthy of what they hold.

In our store in As Suwaiq the drawers come out, the bottles are opened, and no one is hurried.

How oud oil is born

Three stages separate the agarwood tree from the drop that touches your wrist.

  1. Selection

We begin with the wood, for no fine oil comes from poor wood. We choose resin-saturated agarwood from known origins and set aside anything that does not deserve the name.

  2. Distillation and aging

The wood is soaked, then distilled over a gentle fire to release the raw oil in its first sharpness. It is then left to age in glass for months or years until that sharpness settles and its depth is complete.

  3. Bottling

Every oil is filled by our own hands in As Suwaiq into tightly closed crystal bottles. It is then sealed and wrapped to reach you exactly as it left the house.
